In Quesnel, BC heading toward the USA......encountering some difficulties......but everything looks better after a shower (in the Walmart parking lot!) and coffee.
Our check engine light came back on yesterday adding to the stress of just being exhausted.
It's went from cold to hot in one day.....80 plus degrees in the trailer last night at sundown.....and yes!, the sun is now setting. We saw a big moon last night rising over the store.
My laptop battery died again last night as I was trying to upload a post. It was OK as the post was not a happy or uplifting one.....may or may not ever publish it.
After we find an air filter for the truck, we are heading south toward Chilliwack.
Using the tablet's Blogger app to post this and there's no picts worth publishing. Just wanting to let everyone know that we are OK.
Glad to hear you're safe and making progress on your journey south. Sorry we didn't have more time together.
ReplyDeleteGuess it wasn't meant to be!
DeleteI am way behind on my blog reading..hope everything is OK in your world. Will catch up soon!
May your journey home be smooth and pleasant!
This trip has tested your resolve...and you Won hands down....as to your engine light...Auto Zone will run a computer check...FREE and it only takes a couple minutes...so if you find one....take a coffee break and see if it is anything to worry about...will reduce that stress level...safe journey my friends...Horst sends
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Auto Zone suggestion! I had read that on the internet but we have not seen one in a long time. Not sure if there was one in Alaska. The light is connected to rough roads and going slowly.
DeleteThe major stress is over as we are back in civilization with real roads. Now the stress will be the traffic!
Have a great time with the gkids!
Good to hear you're still kickin':-) I can imagine your exhaustion. But, as Horst said, you conquered your fears and made the journey. Looking forward to hearing all about the trip. Are you guys planning to stop by the Kansas gathering?
ReplyDeleteAt this moment the Kansas gathering is still a go! My step-father is in the hospital and our plans may change at any moment.
DeleteHeading down the Oregon coast....want to see what Nina of Wheelingit has been talking about!
Lynne, I am so glad to see a post from you. I've been wondering (worrying) about how you are doing.
ReplyDeleteI think the posts that aren't all happy-face are an essential part of travel blogs. I'm suspicious when people post nothing but breathlessly top-of-the-world accounts because real life isn't like that. And anyone planning a grueling trip to Alaska would benefit by knowing about the good as well as the bad.
Quite frankly I would be so exhausted after a trip like that I'd probably crawl under a blanket for a few weeks -- and/or divorce my husband! Or both. And the dogs, too. And not answer the phone for a month! :D
Don't think I could make it that far! Don't even want to move this AM!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you are finally "out there", free from the job and the house. Say hello to SD for me...really like that state!
All of the above pertains! Except the dogs since we have none!
ReplyDeleteGlad you understand. I want to blog about all of it when I get a little more distance and can figure out why I felt the way I did.
